German carmaker Opel announced today the starting price for the second generation Movano, prior to the van's market release scheduled for April. The Movano, equipped with various panel van versions will start at 24,990 euros in Germany, excluding VAT.
The new Movano comes in a wide choice of body types, with panel vans available in four vehicle lengths and three roof heights, platform, chassis, crew cabs and combi versions. It will be available in either front- or rear-wheel drive, while the weight range has been increased to 4,5t with payloads up to 2.5t.
It will come powered by a new generation of four-cylinder common-rail diesel engines, with power outputs ranging from 100 hp/285 Nm, through 125 hp/310 Nm and to 150 hp/350 Nm. All three versions will be paired with a six-speed transmission as standard, with the two more powerful version benefiting from Easytronic automated manual transmission as an option.
For the UK, the locally badged Vauxhall will retail for 20,250 pounds, a price some 1,410 pounds cheaper than the previously announced entry version of the Movano range. In addition to the entry level, Vauxhall has prepared a special Launch Pack, which adds air conditioning, a multi-function trip computer, vehicle alarm and Bluetooth connectivity to the base trim.
"The second-generation Opel Movano grows in size and range coverage, thereby raising the bar in the European light commercial vehicle segment with a new large van platform. It introduces a host of innovative technologies, a superbly comfortable and practical interior, competitively low fuel consumption and best-in-class operating costs," Opel says in a release.
