According to Auto Bild, the study will be called Opel Monza Concept and will feature a rear-wheel drive setup, which suggests it could sit on General Motors' Cadillac ATS platform.

No other details are known about the concept, but it's believed that if the automaker decides to build a production Monza, the coupe could be powered by a range of four and six-cylinders engines, including some units found on the Cadillac ATS. Styling details have yet to be revealed, but the Monza is expected to wrap around Opel's current design language.

The new Opel Monza will mark the revival of a moniker used by the German company for a coupe sold from 1978 through 1986. The rear-wheel drive vehicle was underpinned by GM's V platform, introduced in 1966 and discontinued in 2007.
