Peeking into the neighbor’s (Mini's) yard , Opel/Vauxhall may be looking to have an entire range of Adam-based alternatives, if the car itself, in its current form proves successful, as well as a good base to build upon. The Mini already is available in five different variants, while the Fiat 500 has spawned three.
According to autocar.co.uk, Vauxhall chairman Duncan Aldred stated that they had “clearly a few thoughts about the potential of the Adam.” We don’t blame them, after seeing what a big hit all the versions of the Mini are, or the 500, or Citroen’s DS sub-brand.

Aldred went on to say “You have to be very careful that you do not push things too far. Each one has to be as good as the base car that it is derived from. If it is not, you eat away at the brand image of that vehicle and it ultimately becomes less attractive.” This means that while they are open to the idea, they will approach it with caution - which in this current economic climate is the best thing to do, anyway.
