Opel Insignia OPC Prices Announced

Opel Insignia OPC, the sportiest flavor of the Insignia, will be priced at 44,900 euro for the sedan version in Germany, the parent company revealed in a release. The OPC version of the Car of the Year 2009 will be available in three different body configurations, sedan, hatchback and Sports Tourer. The Sports Tourer is the most expensive of the whole range and will be offered with a price tag of 46,375 euro.

Each of the aforementioned versions will be powered by a 2.8-liter V6 turbo powerplant that develops a maximum power of 325 hp and 435 Nm of torque. This means it can reach an electronically-limited speed of 250 km/h and hit sixty in six seconds.

“While the ecoFLEX version shows our commitment to outstanding environmentally friendly cars, the OPC instills some hot chili flavor into the Insignia family. It spices up the driving experience,” says Hans Demant, Managing Director, Adam Opel GmbH. “It opens a new generation of OPC cars, offering mature power, refined efficiency and a lot of fun.”

Other highlights include 18-inch Brembo front brakes with large 355 x 32 mm, cross-drilled discs, four-piston, high-strength aluminum calipers and high performance brake pads, 19-inch OPC wheels, air intakes in the front bumpers, rocker panels, integrated rear spoiler, satin chrome finishes and dual exhaust pipes.

The FlexRide electronic system offers three driving modes: standard, for all-round performance, sport, "in which the chassis suspension stiffens and reduces body roll for more agility," as Opel explained in a release, and OPC automatically adjusts some settings to make the car even more agile - the throttle becomes more responsive and the steering gets more direct.
