German automaker Opel has revealed the Insignia Country Tourer estate, an Audi A6 Allroad rival that will make its official debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
Described by the company as a “top-of-the-line Sports Tourer with SUV character”, the Insignia Country Tourer comes with higher ground clearance and protective body elements, including lower body and wheel arch cladding.
The vehicle also sports an electronically-controlled 4x4 drivetrain and an electronic limited-slip differential that “constantly adapts to prevailing road conditions and varies torque distribution seamlessly from zero to 100 percent between the front and rear axles”.
The Opel Insignia Country Tourer will go on sale starting September 10 with a choice of three engines - turbocharged 2.0 SIDI (250 HP/400 Nm), 2.0 CDTI (163 HP/350 Nm), and 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI (195 HP/400 Nm) - and either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.
