It really seems that Opel has finally made the Astra OPC into the car it should have been all along. You can say goodbye to the old understeer tendencies, as this is being taken care of by a limited slip differential.
What’s more, the engine is much more responsive than before, and with 140 PS per liter it also sets new standards. The company has never been shy with the power, and 280 PS in a car like this should keep everybody happy.
But the Germans aren’t new at the game. Before the Astra, there was the Kadett, a small family hatchback built between 1984-1991. In 1988 the car was at the peak of its life, as the 2-liter GSI was introduced with a 16-valve, twin-cam layout. This gave it 156 horsepower. A lot for that time and even enough for a rally career.
