In case you were waiting for information on Opel’s Astra OPC Extreme concept that was unveiled at this year’s Geneva Auto Show, we’re pleased to tell you that a production version is due next year, in a limited edition (between 50-300 units).
The info was confirmed by an official spokesman for the company, turning 2015 into an exciting year for Opel fans. Right now, the concept features a hardcore 4-cylinder, 2-liter turbocharged engine with over 300 HP, hooked up to a manual six-speed gearbox. Moreover, the vehicle incorporates some high-performance 245/35R19 tires, six-piston Brembo front brakes as well as an aggressive aero package that is a certain plus, especially from a visual standpoint.

Lightweight construction also went into the making of this, Opel utilizing lighter materials compared to the 'standard' OPC variant. Apparently, the company managed to cut nearly 2oo pounds from its curb weight. If things remain similar on the production car, the new Astra will become the most powerful and exciting such model they ever built.

From a design point of view, the Astra OPC Extreme concept car looked rather nice at the Geneva Auto Show, the dark grey and silver paint scheme along with the yellow touches are definitely eye-catching. The company sure did know how to further emphasize the car’s sleek yet sporty lines with this chromatic palette.

As far as the interior is concerned, Opel opted for Recaro bucket seats, a carbon fiber-reinforced steering wheel, a safety roll bar plus six-point safety belts. Well, we must say that everything sounds pretty interesting and we’re excited to see the production model. If you’re thinking the same thing, let us inform you that the company might be introducing it in exactly one year, at the Geneva Motor Show 2015.
