Opel Astra K Gains OPC Line Sport Pack

Since the K generation made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, the present-gen Opel Astra amassed more than 250,000 orders. The OPC-spec hottie isn’t ready for production just yet, which is why the OPC Line will have to suffice until then.

In Opel jargon, OPC Line has nothing to do with go-faster credentials. In fact, it’s just the fancy way of saying, “We’ve made the Astra look a lot sportier than usual!” By comparison, the 2016 Ford Focus ST-Line adds a sportier suspension on top of all the sporty-looking bits and bobs.

Priced in Germany from €1,150, the OPC Line Sport Pack is color-coded according to the exterior finish of the Astra. Available on the five-door hatchback in Active, Dynamic, and Innovation specification, there’s no denying that OPC Line enhances the Astra with a stronger presence.

“With state-of-the-art technologies and lively engines, the youngest Astra generation stands for pure driving fun,” declared Peter Christian Kuspert, the vice president of sales at Opel. “Our OPC Line Sport Pack is perfect for those who want to underline these qualities with an especially sporty look."

Piece by piece, the visual package includes prominent cutouts in place of the standard model’s fog lamps, a helluva lot of horizontal bars, sharp-looking front apron, vertical lower tail lamps integrated into the rear bumper, as well as a different aerodynamic diffuser and sportier side sills. That’s plenty enough for just €1,150, which is pretty cool if you're into this sort of stuff.

If you’re in the market for an Opel Astra with the OPC Line package, be warned that you can have it as long as you’re happy with the following paint finishes: Mineral Black, Sovereign Silver, Deep Sky Blue, Dark Caramel, Cosmic Grey, Emerald Green, Summit White, and Absolute Red. Then again, a full-on Astra OPC is more like it, hot hatchery and everything else included.
