Opel Antara Facelift Ready to Go

It's been quiet on the Opel front in the past few months, compared to the struggles of last year. The number of models released by the German manufacturer have also been on a stand by, as the carmaker has said just about everything it had to say this year.

With a little over a month left before the New Year celebrations, Opel has released the mildly revised version of the Antara, the only SUV in its lineup. For the new year, the German engineers have brought a newer face, some revised engines and a modified interior.

The powertrain lineup of the model has been expanded with the addition of a new 2.2l CDTI Turbo diesel, which develops either 163 hp or 184 hp. The less powerful engine is available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive and can be paired to either a manual or an automatic six speed transmission. The more powerful engine comes with the same choice of transmissions and is equipped with all-wheel drive.

For the petrol units, Opel is now offering 30 hp more power for the 2.4l engine, which can be mated to the same transmissions as the diesel powerplant and works using the same drive systems.

The exterior of the SUV has been enhanced with the addition of chrome bezels for the fog lights, new, front grill and modified rear lights.

Compared to the previous version, the model comes equipped with electric parking brake and the Hill Assist System.

With improvements to its powertrain line-up, exterior styling and interior comfort, the Antara can now be seen as a new competitor in the growing SUV segment,” says the German carmaker.
