Opel Ampera a Firm Favourite With European Fleets

The Opel Ampera range-extender hybrid is a unique offering on the European market, today, and apparently it’s not only private buyers who are appreciating it, but fleets as well. Opel’s Ampera fleet customer base has almost tripled from March to October, from around 700 cars to close to 2,000 - some companies have even ordered as many as 20.
The fleet customer base in Germany has increased by 50%, while in the Netherlands a 200% figure is closer to reality! According to Opel Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Alfred Rieck, “Not only is the Ampera Europe’s best selling passenger electric vehicle. We now have proof that it is attracting a rapidly growing number of fleet customers [ . . . ] We are confident that this development will continue because fleet customers understand that the Ampera is one of the very few electric vehicles that is truly suitable for everyday use. Additionally, it is has significantly lower operating costs than equivalent internal combustion engine cars.

This all means that in a few years’ time, there will be plenty of ex-company second hand Amperas for sale in Europe, so both GM and future buyers of green cars will benefit from this. Opel’s range-extender is really gaining popularity, yet some drivers, particularly in the Netherlands aren’t using their Amperas as the manufacturer intended, so some of the cars may end up having problems...
