Opel Adams S Pricing Starts at €18,690

Until recently, the most powerful variant of the Opel Adam city car was the 100 horsepower 1.4 ecoFlex. However, the all-new 1-liter three-pot EcoTec upped that with its 115 horsepower. If that’s not enough, then what about the 150 ponies of the Adam S?

You heard that right. In warm hatch form, the quirky German machine boasts with a 1.4L turbocharged powerplant with 150 hp and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of twist sent to the front axle via a six-speed manual gearbox. Taking into account the Adam weighs less that 1.2 tons (2.400 lbs), this variant should be a fun vehicle to flick around on winding B-roads.

The Russelsheim-based automaker informs that 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is doable in 8.5 seconds, while the sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) is done in 7.9 seconds. Top speed you say? That’s 210 km/h (130 mph) and it's not bad at all for a warm hatch.

If you plan to put a deposit on one right now, Opel informs first deliveries are to begin early next year

Compared to the latter type of vehicle, the Adam S is also pretty frugal if you take into account it uses just 5.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers (47.8 UK mpg or 39.8 US mpg) thanks to various fuel-saving features, including a start & stop system. But the Opel Adam S is a little bit more than just figures.

It is a statement about the person behind the steering wheel and it’s also blessed with sporty aesthetic cues both inside and out. Don’t pay attention to the bigger brakes with red-painted calipers or the retuned steering rack and suspension.

The Adam S’ beauty is in its wacky rear wing, 18-inch alloy rims and the sporty-fied color combos of the exterior and the cabin. Want to spend more than €18,690 for no real reason? Then the extremely pointless sport pedals and Recaro bucket seats package (€1,300) is just what you were looking for.
