Since the new Opel / Vauxhall Adam is a vehicle that aims to fight models like the Fiat 500 and the MINI hatchback, it should also have a hot hatch version that could take on the Abarth 500 and the MINI Cooper S.
It seems that the carmakers are well aware of this and are currently considering building OPC and XVR versions of the Adam. If the car receives the green light, it will probably get the Corsa OPC / VXR’s 192 hp turbocharged 1.6-liter unit. Chief engineer Dieter Metz recently offered a hint toward this, saying that "The [Adam's] chassis can handle the power up to a current Corsa VXR."
In addition to that, the executive revealed that the Adam will receive a new turbocharged 1.0-liter 3=three-cylinder powerplant, confirming to Piston Heads that the engine will have two versions, which will play north and south, respectively, of the 100 hp border.
