The Opel Adam will be available with a new infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new IntelliLink R4.0 infotainment system offered with the Opel/Vauxhall Adam features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. This means that iPhone and Android users alike can connect their phones in a more thorough way with their cars' multimedia system.
Thanks to the new system, Adam's customers will have access to their smartphones without the need to look at their devices' screens or to hold them. This means using certain features of those smartphones becomes safer for everybody on the road.
In the case of the iPhone, the device also gets charged because it is connected using a proprietary Lightning cable. Android users can choose not to use a cable to connect to the Android Auto interface on cars fitted with this kit, such as the Opel Adam.
Opel and Vauxhall will also offer a TomTom Go 40 navigation system in the Adam range. This system is mounted on the dash, situated between the instrument cluster and the windshield, and sits on a specific connection system. This particular feature is already available for purchase in Opel/Vauxhall dealerships and features a 4.3-inch display and the maps of 45 European countries with real-time traffic information.
Along with the new infotainment system available, the Opel Adam can be specified with the Opel OnStar system. This feature brings 24-hour roadside assistance, automatic crash response, remote vehicle diagnostics, and remote access to the vehicle through a secure smartphone app.
The particular OnStar app allows the Adam's owner to lock or unlock the doors remotely and check up available vehicle information. For the Slam and Glam variants of the Adam, OnStar is standard issue.
Customers who fit their Opel Adams with OnStar also get a 4G/LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. This device allows connecting up to seven mobile devices simultaneously. The service for the 4G connection is free of charge during the first year of usage, but special terms do apply.
Novelties for the MY 2016 Opel Adam don't end with technology features. Opel now offers several new color options in this range, all named in a funny manner, such as "Orange Alert" and "Brownian Rhapsody." How cool is that?
