OnStar Reminds Drivers Not to Forget the Kids in the Car

As the eight month of 2010 threatens to scorch the Earth with high temperatures, people and companies alike are getting ready for the heat wave which is already wreaking havoc in some countries. In the US, the next two weeks will be hard to bear. According to statistics, 28 children in the United States have been killed in the US since March 28 because of the heat. It wasn't though the outside heat itself which killed them, but the fact that their parents left them in the car. Under the scorching sun, the cars become ovens on wheels. “These are kids who have been unintentionally left in cars or who climbed into cars to play,” Lorrie Walker, training manager and technical adviser for Safe Kids Worldwide said. “When finally found, they were either unresponsive or deceased. It's a terrible way to die, and families suffer the grief from this for a lifetime.” Now, it's beyond us how you could forget your child in a car, regardless of the outside temperature. We also don't get how one can forget leaving the child in a car for an unreasonable period of time. Yet, as we can all see, this thing happens, and OnStar is trying to do its best to prevent it. This is why, in between August 1-14, OnStar will make all non-emergency contacts from an active OnStar-equipped vehicle close with the advisor’s caution: “Please remember when it is hot not to leave kids or pets alone in a vehicle. “
You know, in case you need to be reminded you have a responsibility...
