OnStar Joins the Black Friday Bargain Chase

Having in mind the projected commotion caused by the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, in-car services provider OnStar announced it will be opening its navigation services to anyone with an OnStar subscription.

We understand these are challenging times for our subscribers, and everyone is looking for bargains on their holiday gifts,” Rich Martinek, OnStar navigation service line manager said in a release.

We think opening our services is a great way to help our more than 5.5 million subscribers navigate through the commotion while traveling from store-to-store.”

Simply put, those interested can use the Turn-by-Turn Navigation to find the place where they know the best offers can be found. Unlike other GPS systems, OnStar's also make use of human operators, which can guide customers to their selected destinations.

Having live advisers is the difference between OnStar and all the others that are just little boxes," Laura Armstrong, OnStar subscriber added “Talking to someone is what makes the absolutely difference. You feel a lot safer knowing that you’re actually just a button press away from a live person.

OnStar is the second navigation solution provider to have announced its Black Friday offering. Yesterday, TomTom announced that it is offering the ONE 125 SE GPS for $59, while pricing for the XL 325 SE is $89.

Of course, using OnStar to ask to operator where is the closest Walmart from where to buy a TomTom would be a bit out of line...
