Bring somebody who had literally been living under a rock in a random city across the world and it would probably take that person no more than a few seconds to tell you that station wagons aren’t exactly popular. Well, it seems that people love estate vehicles even less than we thought, as shown in a recent car rental survey.
One percent of the drivers would choose a station wagon when hiring a vehicle for a first date. This was the major conclusion of the study, which was perfected by one of the top car hire companies in Europe, Europecar and targeted British motorists.

Also coming straight from Captaion Obvious’ journal is the result that states the younger drivers are the ones who pay the most attention to what a person is driving. Almost a quarter of those with ages between 25 and 34 said that a potential partner’s ride is important. Don’t worry though, when you meet someone it’s not all about the wheels, as almost half (49 percent) of all respondents admitted the first thing that grabs their attention is the other person’s smile.

Again in a non-surprising manner, the study shows that premium vehicles were seen as the best choice by most (32 percent of the responders chose these). As for the sports cars and coupes, these impressed over one in five drivers.

As for an impression that lasts, over a quarter of the woman asked preferred the VIP status and space of a limo, while one in four men go for the cool image of a sports car.

Perhaps more than anything else, this study tells us just how stereotypical people are on their first date. Better watch that smile!
