You know how there’s always a group of people trying to be different and cool, and we’re not talking about high school punks, but actual companies designing new products. After successfully launching on Kickstarter in January, the Mountain View, a California-based company, has recently announced their one wheel vehicle will get into production.
Onewheel looks like a skateboard but seems to be a lot more fun than the classic personal toy. Thanks to a solid-state inertial sensors and algorithms it is self-balancing. It comes with hands-free intuitive control, which means you lean forward to drive forward, back to stop and press you heels or toes to turn.

Among other features, the electric one-wheeler packs a hub motor with only one moving part, a allegedly revolutionary new type of brushless hub motor that provides power and reliability. Onewheel’s creators claim the state-of-the-art lithium iron phosphate (LifeP04) batteries provide extended ride time, while the charging takes well under an hour.

And of course, the device is controlled by an app. The team is developing an Onewheel iPhone+Android app that will “enable powerful features to tune the ride to meet your needs and ability.”

In specs, we’re looking at a 9 x 11.5 x 30 inch, 25lbs one wheel toy that has a maximum 30 degrees lean angle. With a top 12 mph and a 4 to 6 miles range, it takes 20 minutes to charge with the ultra charger and 2 hours with the standard one. Oh, it will cost you $1,500 for a brand new one.

But we’ll just leave you with the video below to get a better impression.
