Why would anyone invest so much time and money into an old Toyota sedan is a question with multiple answers. One of them could be “to amaze and kick ass” and it perfectly matches the build you’ll see here.
Darren’s Toyota Aristo (on which the first Lexus GS was based), looks boring as hell on the outside - it’s pure stock, with the stock dark grey paint, stock wheels, stock rims and it even comes with those ugly window rain/wind deflectors most Asian cars can’t do without.
You would also expect to sound boring and boringly cruise from here to there and to the office. Nope. Those cars were fitted even from stock with 3-liters 2JZ-GTE engines (non turbo on the lower end model), and you know from those tuned Supras the potential these inline-six units have.
The one you see here doesn’t make for the exception and with forged internal parts, an upgraded Garrett single huge turbocharger, E85 fuel system and a Wolf EFI, it makes 521 hp at the back wheels running at 23 psi. And yes, it can take on Supras too.
In its latest runs, it scored somewhere in the high 10s, which is surprisingly fast for a street legal sedan of its size. Proof in the video bellow.
