Some believe that encounters with wild animals while riding a motorcycle or a scooter are bad because of the high speed, but the video below shows that cycling through the countryside can be equally dangerous. To what degree riding a bicycle or a motorbike and hitting deer is more dangerous than running into one while pedaling is a matter of personal experience, so to say, with factors other than speed and the possibility of being caught under the vehicle being the only ones worth considering now.
It looks like at least one of Santa’s deers were out on a well-deserved holiday in California, after all the hard work they done last Christmas. However, it’s not exactly nice to see the lackluster absence of any safety concerns from the deer, as he jumps over the guardrail in front of the incoming traffic.

Some rumors have the deed having previously sipped too many Mojitos on a nearby beach and all of a sudden he decided to pay a visit to a local doe. Other voices say that the deer was simply trying to escape after quitting his job on weather-based reasons and was fleeing the rest of his buddies in search of better-paid employment opportunities in warm California.

Whichever might be true, one thing is certain: the deer’s complete disregard of basic safety rules when crossing the street could have caused far worse consequences. Luckily, the rider was wearing his helmet and it absorbed much of the shock caused by the back of his head hitting the Californian tarmac.

Even so, scrapes and bruises, plus damage to the bike is definitely on thing the unlucky rider could have definitely done without. As for the deer, he simply took off in the casual hit-and-run manner we’ve seen on so many occasions.

Since such crashes are impossible to predict and almost impossible to avoid, wearing good riding gear seems to be the only reasonable method for minimizing the damage. Wewonder what's Santa's penalty for deers leaving the premises without authorization...
