One Chevrolet Sold Every 7.4 Seconds

Chevrolet, one of the four core brands currently existing under GM's tutorship, posted significant increases in 2010, selling no more, no less than 4.26 million vehicles globally last year. More importantly, General Motors claims that statistics proved that a new Chevrolet was sold every 7.4 seconds, thus helping the brand account for about 5.8 percent of all vehicles sold around the world in 2010.

The year end brought important achievements for Chevrolet, with the company selling a total of 361,236 cars, crossovers and trucks worldwide in October, which represents an increase of 16 percent as compared to the same period of the previous year. November was successful as well, sales totaling this time 368,103 vehicles, up 27.1 percent over November 2009.

Chevrolet ended the year in style, delivering 416,826 vehicles to customers in the last month of 2010, thus scoring the 15th consecutive monthly increase and the best December ever for Chevrolet.

“Chevrolet’s dedication to compelling designs, quality, durability and great value is a winning formula that resonates with consumers around the world,” said Joel Ewanick, GM global chief marketing officer. “We will continue to listen to our customers and do our utmost to deliver what it takes to bring them into the Chevrolet family.”

Of course, China was one of the main markets, bringing Chevrolet an increase of 63 percent in 2010 to 543,700 vehicles. India grew up as well, surpassing 100,000 units for the first time, reaching 110,350 vehicles, up 60 percent as compared to 2009. Sales in Brazil and Russia increased too, reaching 657,697 and 116,233 vehicles, respectively at the end of the year.
