On-Board Isle of Man TT Action with Record-Breaking Bruce “Almighty” Anstey

The video you’re about to watch may be considered a bit inappropriate by some, because it depicts how extreme the most extreme road race in the world actually is. However, this video also shows the true face and essence of what racing in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy represent: the real need for speed in a real-world environment where every single mistake can not only make the difference between winning and losing, or between a podium placement and watching the three top riders from the crowd, but a difference between life and death.
You’ll be riding with Bruce Anstey, a 44-years-old New Zealand native racer, who debuted in the TT back in 1999 in the Lightweight 250 class, and who was second to the legendary Joey Dunlop only one year after, with his first victory in 2002. Having won 9 TT races and with 27 podiums to his name, Anstey’s last win was in 2012, in the Supersport TT.

On Saturday, he finished 4th in the Dainese Superbike TT, behind Honda factory rider Conor Cummins, but even if he wasn’t even on the podium, he is no less the man of the moment, after having been clocked with an average lap speed of 132.298 mph (221.867 km/h) and being the fastest rider on the Mountain Course.

Aboard his Padgett’s Valvoline Racing Honda CBR1000RR SP, Bruce Anstey blew John McGuinness’ 131.671 mph (211.858 km/h) 2013 record to smithereens. Still, on Friday we will know whether the Kiwi’s lap will endure through the 2015 Tourist Trophy, as the most important event, the Senior TT will take place at 13:00 hrs local time (GMT), with possible delays caused by rain and fog, like we’ve already had this year.

Enjoy this breathtaking sample of unbelievable motorcycle racing art and by all means, don’t try this on public roads! Always remember that even the great ones are mortal, and the accident of the late Simon Andrews should be enough to make you think twice before speeding.
