Oldschool Blown Dodge Charger Shows How Diluted Is the Current Version

Am I the only one around here thinking the new Dodge Charger should have remained a two-door land-yacht? Sort of an S-Class Coupe AMG, but with less luxury and more things sticking out from the hood.

But no, they said it should be a stupid sedan not to interfere with the Challenger, which is basically based on the same platform, but it is a bit chopped down. It would have been better to leave the Charger be the biggest 2-door in the range and eventually offer a four-door one for those that don’t give a damn about the past. I must be very old on the inside...

I know chances are close to zero, but until that happens, let me show you what the big ol’ musclecar was all about with this neat video below. Youtube channel RuffRiders X made a short clip about Johan’s Eriksson’s brutal 1968 Dodge Charger.

He bought the car back in 2008 and transformed it into one of the coolest one on the streets. He actually took it to LA and Las Vegas to be part of the auto shows there, where it did turn a lot of heads, despite the fact it was built in Sweden.

The old Charger was about rock and roll, the open highway and laughing in the face of aerodynamics, because back then you’d had to come down to smooth flowing shapes to cut the air if you couldn’t build powerful engines.

I mean, look at that front end. It’s basically a huge rectangular grille with no pointy shapes at all. Imagine how much air resistance that thing creates and no one cares, because what’s behind it has enough oomph to pull a train.

The new Charger might be fast, more efficient and safer, but it totally lacks that craziness. Now, it’s basically a family car with more power.
