Old Vs. New: Lancia Stratos

We don’t know if the Italians thought the Stratos was going to become such a legend, just as big probably as the Lancia badge it wears, but we hope they have plans for the future as well, because seeing the new one-off by Pininfarina next to its legendary ancestor got us all teary eyed.
This video was recently taken by Youtube user Marchettino at shows just how iconic this shape is. The black panther you can see in these shots is the only example built by Pininfarina and commissioned by Michael Stoschek.

The old Stratos used a V6 engine, but the new one is based on the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and packs one heck of a V8 punch worth about 530 hp and all going to the back wheels. That means double the power and double the fun of the original

We are really hoping that Fiat Group sees the wisdom of reviving the short wheelbase rally legend.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
