Strap on your VR gear because we are going to geek out with a few videos of the Honda NSX. One is a classic from 1990, and the other is the 2017 model year, but you can check both out in 360 degrees from the passenger seat.
We don't know how we feel about the new NSX, but it doesn't really matter. Neither of us regular folks has the money to buy it or its rivals, such as the Audi R8 or the Porsche 911 Turbo. But we can enjoy the footage and draw a few conclusions.

First off, let's just point out that Mat Watson working for Carwow is a brilliant thing. You've got an upbeat person that never lets you feel down about anything, not even cheap plastic parts in the 2017 NSX.

Unless you have a friend with a 1990 Honda NSX, this is as close as you're going to get to sitting in the passenger seat of one. The original lasted 15 freaking years in the marketplace, which has to be a record.

To be honest, the newer one is not the most amazing thing in the world. Ferrari's 458 Italia, which this thing is supposed to match, has already gone out of production. The old NSX also captured the hearts of millions through bedroom posters, magazines, and NFS car selector screens. However, the 2017 NSX will only be around for a few years, and it's already being outclassed in the Internet top trumps game by the Ford GT.

But it's no all bad news, as the formula that makes the 2017 NSX is the same as that of any other hypercar, like the Porsche 918 or the McLaren P1. The performance is also there already, but they need to make a few modifications for the sake of excitement.

In the supercar market, Honda's hybrid system is in a class of its own. Sure, there's the BMW i8, but that one feels fast without being so, and the electric bits are there mainly for the sake of economy. You can park the NSX in EV mode, but after that, the internal combustion engine will kick in no matter what you do.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
