The Clio 4 RS was one of the best small hot hatchbacks you could buy, even though its reception was pretty rough back in 2013. People complained about the lack of a manual gearbox, which Renault never got around to fixing.
Just like with every fast Renault, there are things we love, like the exhaust sound, and things we hate, like the interior. But we're quietly optimistic that the new model will be even better, perhaps superior to the Polo GTI and Fiesta ST combined.

You see, rumor has it that a 1.8-liter will be used this time around, perhaps with a standard output of around 220 horsepower. But we never felt the old model reached its full potential. Aside from a couple of obscure tuning projects and the widened RS16 edition, the Clio 4 wasn't allowed to go as wild as its predecessors.

What we wanted is something like this, a race car for the road, with flared out fenders, an adjustable air splitter and massive vents. It's like a DTM car that never existed. This thing has more blades than an expensive razor blade. However, it's also not real.

We're dealing with a rendering from an artist named Hugo Silva. His Artstation account is filled with such creatins, sprouting huge wings and covered in carbon fiber. The Clio 4 has a racing version, of course, being part of a popular one-make race series. But we doubt even the people who put the Alpine A110 together would have imagined something like this. And if they did, shame on them for not building it.

The crazy, extra-wide back also reminds us of the Clio V6 with its rear-mounted powertrain. But that's oddly not the only time Renault moved things around. There was also the mid-engined Megane Trophy and the Twin'Run concept that previewed the Twingo.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
