Old Man Manages to Crash His Car Even Though It Wasn't Really Working

If you were born in one of the western countries (you lucky, pampered spoiled capitalist brat, you), then you probably have a very good idea of what to do in case the car breaks down: you just call road assistance to have it picked up and enjoy a coffee while waiting for the tow truck.
In the less fortunate parts of the world, things aren't as easy. You drive an old, decrepit piece of junk, so in case it malfunctions, it's not like you can afford to have it taken to a workshop on a flatbed. Which is a bit ironic, since it will definitely break down, and do it quite often. And when it does, you won't afford to have it serviced either, so you'll just have to do it yourself. But what can you do when you've also forgotten your toolbox at home? And also your gun, so shooting yourself is not an option.

You start pushing your car, that's what. When you own an old Lada, even though the "strong Russian-build" meant it used more iron and steel than you can find in a forge, it is still a light car compared to modern vehicles. They rarely went over one ton (2,200 lbs), so pushing them wasn't such a hassle. Once you broke the initial resistance, maintaining the speed was a piece of cake.

A cake out of which this man appears to have bitten more than he could chew. We find him pushing his dead Lada station wagon down a fairly busy boulevard, struggling to maintain a straight trajectory among the rest of the cars with functioning engines. He swerves right and left, prompting a few (very expensive, I might add) cars to brake to avoid him, while he shows absolutely no intention of stopping. Not that he could do it even if he wanted to, as it very soon becomes apparent.

If you've never pushed a car, you probably won't know what his mistake is, but we'll let you in on the little secret. Actually, there are two mistakes. First, he got a little carried away and allowed the car to roll a bit too fast. Second - and most importantly - he pushed the car with the driver's door closed. You just don't do that. If your body is strong enough to get the vehicle rolling, it will be of no use when trying to stop it, so quick access to the brake pedal is paramount. Otherwise, it will just stop in the side of a Volkswagen Tiguan.
