A new compact SUV has been Launched by Ford in Australia, which sounds like a good thing at first, but the story is a bit more complicated. The new vehicle is the European Kuga SUV, which basically replaces the the old Escape. Now, both these vehicles will be replaced in the global marketplace by the new Escape /Kuga that’s just been revealed. So basically it might just be too little too late for Australia.
We say that because the new compact SUV is already scheduled to arrive in Australia early in 2013, so the Kuga is nothing more than a stop-gap measure.

Want to hear something even more interesting? The platform for the Kuga comes from the old Ford Focus hatch, while the Escape was loosely related to the Mazda 626.

Getting back to the Kuga, this is only available with the 2.5-liter turbo engine that was used by Volvo and Ford back in the T5 days. Prices start at $38,990 which makes it quite expensive compared to rival like the Toyota RAV4 and the upcoming CX-5.
