Did you think that after Audi launched the all-new R8, everybody would forget about the old one? Far from it, in fact, since a tuning company we know has just decided a supercharger is what the 5.2-liter FSI needed. So much for the naturally aspirated solution!
Mcchip-DKR first had to remove the V10 engine from the rear of the R8. It's a tight squeeze, so it wasn't easy, but what came after is a complex array of racing components. They installed forged pistons, motorsport connecting rods and optimized the cylinder head.

The cherry on top of the cake is a supercharger kit from VF. It's being accompanied by an intercooler, an extra belt to spin up the compressor, a reworked exhaust system and carbon-fiber intake complete exhaust system.

From our somewhat vague understanding of the German language, this supercharged R8 is designed to be a track-day car. Otherwise, we can't explain what's inside the trunk at the front. That's a race-spec fire extinguisher system designed to put out raging blazes. We've been promised over 850 horsepower and we're not going to be disappointment.

Af for the body of this basic 2014 Audi R8 5.2 V10 Plus, it will be upgraded using the R8 GT3 LMS kit. That included wider wings, a titanic rear wing, and much lower bumpers. All this stuff is necessary when you consider they plan to give this sportscar as much power as a Porsche 918 Spyder or McLaren P1 in the future. The interior will be completely stripped down, and all the luxury fittings replaced by lightweight racing parts.

We'll keep you up to speed if there are any major changes over at the Mcchip shop!
