Defending champion Sebastien Ogier and trusty co-driver Julien Ingrassia are off to a great start in this year’s World Rally Championship after claiming victory in the 2014 Rally Monte Carlo.
Second place was claimed by Brian Bouffier (Ford Fiesta RS), while third position went to Kris Meeke (Citroen DS3). Ogier and Ingrassia won their second Rally Monte Carlo this week, also securing their 17th victory in the series and tenth success in the Volkswagen Polo WRC.
“What a perfect start to the season! The team did a fantastic job. I am overjoyed. It is an amazing feeling to win the Rally Monte Carlo in these difficult conditions – especially now that the Monte is a round of the World Championship again,” Ogier said.
While Volkswagen, Citroen and Ford scored their first points at Monte Carlo, no Hyundai i20 car made in the top ten. The South Korean manufacturer made its debut in the series in Monaco.
The next round of the 2014 World Rally Championship is scheduled between February 5-8, in Sweden.
