Oettinger Releases Volkswagen Amarok Power Kit

The Volkswagen Amarok isn’t exactly the top child of the VW brand in terms of image, as we are talking about a pick-up. However, the German vehicle comes with a rugged design and uses multiple high-tech components, so it manages to stay in the “desirable” area.

This is why the car is being targeted by certain tuning companies, who are planning to really make it shine. Today, we are here to see what Oettinger has done with the vehicle.

Oettinger’s specialist have played with the Amarok’s 2.0 liter BiTDi powerplant, a unit that already came with a high level of power and torque for its class. We’ll remind you that the oil-burner delivers 163 hp and a peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).

After the special treatment (the tuner has played with the unit’s ECU), the engine is able to produce 190 hp and a maximum torque of 317 lb-ft (430 Nm). The tuner has worked hard to provide a high level of real world grunt and now the engine offers a 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) torque boost between 2,800 and 4,000 rpm.

Now that we’ve seen what the engine can do, let’s see how it handles with the rest of the package. The modified Amarok can deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 10.5 seconds and, if the driver keeps squashing the pedal on the right, offers a top speed of 116 mph (187 km/h).

If you feel that you must have this power kit for your Amarok, be prepared to spend EUR1,090 ($1,493) for the juice-providing toy.
