Odd C 63 AMG Mule Caught on The Nurburgring Nordschleife

The fact that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG W205 is set to be unveiled sometime this Fall is no longer a mystery, with the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show being the most probable venue for its official reveal.

No longer an enigma is also the fact that it will be powered by an all-new four-liter V8 that should develop at least 476 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb ft) of torque in its “mildest” form.

What is a downright conundrum is happening in the short spy video below, shot by our friends at TouriClips at the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The untrained eye might only observe a current Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG W204 being driven like it's running away from a murder, with a guy wearing a white helmet behind the wheel.

Upon closer inspection, this C 63 AMG is sporting a visibly much wider front track, not to mention the fact that it is the only car on the circuit apart from a camouflaged C 63 AMG of the W205 variety.

A normal car during Touristenfahrten days would be swimming among tens of Porsches and BMWs, but that is clearly not the case in the footage below.

If we were to speculate, which we are, the two models are sharing more than the three-pointed star badge and the AMG lettering. We would go as far as saying that the silver W204 is actually acting as a mule that features the front (and maybe rear) suspension from the upcoming model for some reason.

The fact that it sits as planted as a thoroughbred sports car during all that hard cornering is also making us think that the future C 63 AMG W205 might also feature some kind of AMG-tuned Airmatic suspension instead of steel springs. Hopefully, this riddle will be solved soon enough.
