Obama Gets Stuck in His Armored Cadillac at an Exit Ramp in Dublin

You can never have too many safety measures taken when a head of state is involved, and that comes tenfold when we talk about US President Barack Obama. Taking that into account, all the necessary arrangements were made during the President’s latest visit to Ireland yesterday, including bringing his armored limo from the US and securing the zone for any potential terrorist attack.

However, the people in charge seemed to have missed the small picture, as it was no suicide bomber that messed things up for Obama, but an exit ramp at the American Embassy in Dublin.

The US President and his wife, Michelle, were inside “The Beast” (as the Caddy is affectionately called) when the incident happened, in front of a crowd who supplied ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ while shooting the scene. Beast or no beast, the limo could not pass the ramp, after a few minutes the presidential staff decided to move Obama and the First Lady to another car so they can proceed on their journey.

But let’s rest with the armored Cadillac for a bit before you go on and watch a video of that whole incident below this article. The Beast weighs eight tons, it can travel with up to 100 km/h (62 mph), does 0 - 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 15 seconds, and has a fuel consumption of over 35 l/100km (3.72 US mpg). The car has an eight-inch thick armour-plating on its doors and a military grade armor at least five inches thick on its bodywork that can even break up potential projectiles.

Armor-plated fuel tank and chassis, night vision cameras and pump-action shotguns, tear gas cannons, oxygen supply and a firefighting system are just a few of the special features the Caddy comes with.

Needless to say, despite all that The Beast sure needs some workouts to lose that underbelly fat...
