NYIAS 2011: Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe

One of the most tempting creations on the New York Auto Show’s floor lies in the Mercedes booth. We are talking about the C63 AMG Coupe, which made its North American debut at the event. This is a car that finally allows us to enjoy the eagerly anticipated German Power War battle of the two-doors.

The engine compartment holds the good ol' 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 mill, which punishes the rear wheels with 457 hp and a maximum torque of 442 lb-ft (600 Nm). The unit works with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed automatic gearbox.

The powerplant sends the car past the 62 mph mark in 4.5 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Of course, you can order the AMG Power Package, which brings the power to 487 hp, shaving 0.1 seconds off the vehicle’s 0 to 62 mph sprint time.

We have to mention that the C63 AMG Coupe comes with a multitude of assistance systems, aimed at allowing you to focus on the pleasure of using the brute force. Here is the full list of electronic goodies:
