When it comes to police brutality and abuse, every human being on this planet that doesn't wear a badge and lives in the U.S. will immediately think of the American police officers. Trained for zero tolerance to disobedience, they will not think twice before pulling their handguns and making threats. And if that doesn't work, then there's only one solution left.
That's the image the news reports, Internet clips, and Hollywood movies have portrayed, and it's what makes stomaching this video that more difficult. When the footage starts, we can see a silver Range Rover stuck between a Yellow Cab and some parked cars on a narrow street in New York City. A police car is already on the scene, tentatively blocking the other exit.

Whatever happened, it had been going on for a while, because the officers were already smashing their batons into the vehicle's windows, trying to get in. The Range Rover goes in reverse hitting quite a few cars as he goes - including the police cruiser - but as it stops, the hitting is resumed. At one point, the left rear door is open, but for some reason, the second police officer hesitates to get in.

That's all the invitation the suspect needs, so he sets off again, trying to squeeze between the taxi and the parked cars on the other side of the road. At this point, people start yelling "Shoot him!", but the two officers show no intent of using their guns. It was probably because they thought it wasn't safe with all those people around. Besides, we don't know what that guy did - apart from resisting arrest and jeopardizing the lives of two police officers.

After backing off and adding three more cars on his list of damaged vehicles, he makes one more try and, with a bit of luck, the large SUV gets through. The guy filming is all pumped by what he's witnessing, so even he gives the officers some advice: "shoot his tires," he can be heard screaming with a very strong Hispanic accent.

In the end, the crowd seems disappointed. Everybody is waving their arms around, hitting their hats against their thighs and shaking their heads in disbelief. This is not the U.S. police force they were expecting to see. They wanted gunfire, a violent arrest, maybe even some blood. Instead, they were only treated to a short round of destruction derby. Well, they shouldn't worry too much, we're sure there was another crime going on not two blocks away.
