One female cab driver with a very short temper put a massive beating on a male driver and his wife, right in Midtown Manhattan, New York, stopping both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Video of the incident is available at the bottom of the page. The cabbie, identified as 25-year-old Alyssa Jenna Mallett, has been arrested and has had her TLC license suspended. She’d only had it for about 14 months at the time of the altercation, the NY Post reports.
According to the police report, the brawl started when Mallett thought the white Nissan SUV cut her off. She got out of her cab and went to confront the driver, who also stepped out of his vehicle. In almost no time, Mallett became physically aggressive, punching, kicking and biting the man.
His wife also stepped out of the Nissan, trying to pry the cabbie off her husband. A 3-way brawl ensued, with passers-by forced to intervene to keep the peace until police arrived. Eventually, they managed to get Mallett to go back to her car, but the brawl didn’t stop here.
She hit an unattended UPS truck and 2 other parked cars, both unoccupied, before speeding off. When she tried to get past the Nissan, it cut her off again and the driver went to her window to argue with her some more. This time, Mallett didn’t leave her car but tried to speed off with the man hanging on to her vehicle.
“Mallett was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and assault,” the Post notes. Her TLC license has been suspended during the investigation but she “is facing revocation over additional separate incidents for refusal of service and overcharging passengers.”
Perhaps more shocking than the entire brawl is the fact that it happened in front of the couple’s 2 kids, who were in the backseat of the SUV. An 11-year-old girl and a 2-week-old baby girl were strapped in child seats in the back of the Nissan, but neither was hurt.
