The software side of our cars is playing a more important role in the driving experience that we get behind the wheel, and in the last few years, innovations like AI and AR have become more common in the automotive industry.
Hyundai Motor Group is one of the companies trying to align its car portfolio with the latest trends in the tech world, so it decided to join forces with NVIDIA to overhaul the infotainment capabilities of its next-generation models.
As a result, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models launching in 2022 and later will come standard with NVIDIA DRIVE in-vehicle infotainment systems, no matter if we’re talking about entry-level or premium vehicles.
One of the main benefits of NVIDIA DRIVE is its update capabilities, as the system can receive new capabilities as soon as they’re ready.
“Recent breakthroughs in AI and accelerated computing have opened the door for next-generation cars and trucks to benefit from new functionality, capabilities and enhanced safety features that can be added after the car is purchased. With a centralized, software-defined computing architecture, future vehicles can always have the latest AI cockpit features,” NVIDIA explains.
At the same time, Hyundai Motor Group confirmed that NVIDIA would help the company with the rollout of ccOS, its very own connected car operating system that is supposed to be installed on future models and rely on an army of sensors and new-generation tech to provide an upgraded experience inside the car.
This isn’t the first time Hyundai and NVIDIA are working together, as their collaboration started in 2015 when the infotainment system powered by NVIDIA DRIVE was installed on the Genesis GV80. What’s more, the two companies have been collaborating in the last few years on building a unique digital cockpit, and according to the information shared by Hyundai itself, the debut of this innovative technology should happen in approximately one year.
