The world’s most demanding track, the Nurburgring, will have a different pricing scheme for the 2017 season.
If we were to examine the situation, it appears that the new program is here to stay for many years, so keep reading if you are interested in driving a car on the ‘Ring. First thing’s first, the famous “lap tickets” will no longer be offered in their previous form.
Instead, those interested in a round of “touristenfahrten” must sign up for an account on the track’s official website and pre-load an account with money. The described account can be accessed with a new app, which is available on iOS and Android.
Every user will pay by scanning a QR-code at the entrance to the track, which might prove difficult for motorcyclists. After all, they will have to take their gloves off (or at least one) to extract their smartphone from its residing pocket, and then scan the QR-code on their screen with the reader at the track. The app can generate a new QR-code for the user if he or she feels that it has been compromised.
Those who want to drive/ride a lap of the Nurburgring on any day from Monday to Friday will pay 25 euros for one, which is less than the current rate.
However, if you want a lap of the Nurburgring on Saturday or Sunday, you will have to pay more (30 euros). The most hardcore fans of the German track are offered a “Season Ticket,” which costs 1.900 euros.
As Bridge To Gantry notes, instead of the old discounts for acquiring bigger tickets, users will get “Green Hell Credits.” Those credits will be conferred if you buy more laps out front, and can be used to get you more laps.
Purchases between 100 and 200 euros get a bonus of 10% in Green Hell Credits, and any purchase over 500 euros gets the user a flat rate of 20% bonus for the inspired-named Green Hell Credits. If you invest between 200 and 500 euros you will be awarded a 15% bonus of GHCs.
