Sat-nav systems have been slowly gaining popularity in recent years, as the technology has become less cumbersome and less expensive, it is becoming more accessible to more people. According to a study by thedetrioitbureau.com, however, their growth in popularity will be exponential.
The study predicts that the number of sat-navsystems in use will quadruple by the year 2019. That equates to 13-million systems per year, all around the world, which all add up to around 56-million of them by the aforementioned year.
This means that if they don’t want to suffer the fate of Kodak, one of the most recognizable brands in human history, which went under because of their inability to adapt, companies like TomTom and Garmin will need to counteract the offensive started by much larger companies, and namely Microsoft and Apple which are bringing out all sorts of navigation-related apps and dedicated programs.
