If you’re not encouraged to join the police by some sense of civic duty, perhaps the possibility of driving either of the two new pimped police rides might be incentive enough.
Of course, the sole condition is that you live in Australia. The New South Wales Police Force has just kicked off a new recruitment campaign on social media, using a different angle than what we’ve seen before.
This time, they want prospects to join their ranks for the chance to drive either one of their new cars: a customized Kia Stinger GT and a Ford Ranger. You can see them in the video at the bottom of the page, shot as part of the aforementioned recruitment campaign.
Because Australian cops have a sense of humor, the video comes with the caption “This is what happens when you let the staff loose with a drone and some new cars.” A separate post makes it clear that these two cars are new additions to the existing fleet, and will probably be driven by some rookie who agrees to join the force.
As you can imagine, besides the comments on the quality of the cars, this post has also generated a flurry of comments mocking the cops for their choice of… marketing. Others used their time online to interrogate the officers on whether their drone use was by the book, or whether the stick-on flares were illegal.
Believe it or not, someone from the NSW Police actually took the trouble of answering all of them. Yes, the drone was used legally because the cars were on an empty field and there were no power cables around. Yes, the flares are legal, too.
“No mate, factory fitted, would be a bit silly to publicize our illegal street machine, being that we are the cops and responsible for enforcing the law,” the PD says.
You gotta love a uniform with a sense of humor. And a pimped ride.
