Now Vettel Eyes WRC Drive

After Kimi Raikkonen and Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel also confirmed he's into rallying, following his visit to the Rally Finland caravan last weekend. The German decided to get a glimpse of the WRC action in the Rally of 1000 Lakes and admitted he has loved every second of it.

His presence in Finland was courtesy of the Citroen World Rally Team, as both Sebastian Loeb's and Dani Sordo's cars have the Red Bull logo painted on the bodywork. The RBR driver revealed he talked a lot with 5-time world champion Loeb during the course of the weekend, learning a lot about rallying in general.

When asked about a potential switch to rallying, the 22-year old German said it's not under review at the moment, but wouldn't rule it out in the future.

This is my first time at the World Rally Championship and it's been fascinating. It is high speed and it's nice to be out at the stages to watch it. It is nearly as quick as F1, but with no run off and on gravel,” admitted the German, according to British magazine Autosport.

I was able to get some advice from Sebastien Loeb, and there is no one better. I have plenty to do in F1, but who knows maybe one day I will compete in the WRC - I wouldn't mind doing some drives in the future,” added the German.

Competing for the first time in a WRC event, Vettel's fellow F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen failed to get to the finish line, as his Fiat Abarth Grande Punto S2000 rolled into a ditch at the start of SS19. He was running in 15th place at the time, despite struggling with engine problems all day.
