Now, That's an ATV Crash You Don't See Every Day

Honestly, accidents like the one in the video below are a very rare treat in the urban environment. One would expect to see riders losing control of an ATV in the wild and crashing in the silliest and sometimes the most painful ways.

Still, it looks like some will not be happy enough testing their skills in fast off-road rides and will attempt to play the "quad hero" in the city, too. It's still a mystery how people don't realize what dangers are lurking when hopping in the saddle of an ATV.

Like I said on several occasions in the past, the illusion of safety aboard an ATV is one of the biggest enemies of the unskilled rider. And I am mentioning the unskilled rider here simply because any rider in their right minds knows that ANY machine can be dangerous.

Most likely, people's perception of ATVs is altered by the fact that, under normal conditions, they don't need any balancing and will remain upright by themselves, thanks to their four wheels.

Four wheels don't boost a rider's skills

Now, little do these chaps know that the fact that they can throttle ahead without falling because of their lack of skills doesn't make them good riders.

And it's almost the same scenario each time, with a mindless guy throttling hard and way beyond his or her skills, and crashing moments later.

With no info on the particular conditions of this crash, it's hard to say what happened prior to the final moments of the ride. We can see an ATV approaching very fast and leaving the asphalt behind, most likely because the rider lost control due to speeding.

The quad then charges across a small grass square destroying some small trees while at it and miraculously squeezes between two parked cars. Back on asphalt, it crashes into another parked car, whose alarm goes off.

We can see that the rider is not wearing a helmet and seems in good condition after the brutal impact. Watching the video closely you'll observe how lucky the guy was. As the ATV mows down a street sign before entering on the alley, it almost bucks the rider over the hood.

In case the rider would have fallen in front of the ATV, we'd most likely have witnessed his head and torso being turned into minced meat, crushed between the quad and the car.

Still, the chap is alright and decides to split. It will be interesting when the cops knock at his door, after picking up the fingerprints and putting all evidence together. Because they will, eventually.
