Not Just a Virtual Artist's Rendering: Dacia Duster Widebody by Prior Design

Germany’s Prior Design GmbH has ample experience with the design and development of aerodynamic kits, light alloy wheels, and sporty exhaust systems. Its North American counterpart does all that and even works on performance upgrades. So, we shouldn’t confuse the expert tuner with the run-of-the-mill virtual render artist that’s looking for momentary Internet glory.

As such, we really hope there’s more behind their latest project besides a neat virtual rendering of something that will never be. Our secret wish – well, not so secret anymore – would be for the Prior Design Dacia Duster #Widebody Concept to be turned into an actual aerodynamic kit and wheel set.

Just imagine the possible star power. Groupe Renault’s Dacia Duster is one of the best-selling little SUVs in Europe for a simple reason. It’s reliable, reasonably well built, uses tried and tested powertrain components, has stellar off-roading capabilities... and, most of all, it’s dirt cheap!

Meanwhile, Prior Design has been treating us to aerodynamic wonders from various brands – not just the exclusive or high-expense kind. So, it’s not entirely crazy to imagine they would add Dacia to the list of brands (that include names like Hyundai, Ford, Toyota – not just Lamborghini, Bentley, or Ferrari).

They’re already working on Nissans, so they have a link to the Alliance partner already. And while the looks of the black (and very virtual) widebody Duster are definitely something to behold, the development shouldn’t be too costly – after all, we see they already covered the design part.

Actually, their reveal on social media also includes a neat video (embedded below, it's in German, but you can turn the closed-captioned Google subtitles in your language of choice) of the team actually trying out a real Dacia Duster before starting the styling process.

Sure, it could be a loaned unit, but they’re a big company, so they could easily afford to shell out €11,687.73 (the price of a base Duster in Germany) for a proof of concept...
