You may remember a mid-May article in which we previewed the Norwegian-designed Roskva electric motorbike. It is a project undertaken by five engineering students at the University of Life Sciences, in Oslo. Now, an official reveal date has been set - the bike will be shown to the public for the very first time on July 7th.
The design of the bike itself has evolved since the May article, when it was even speculated that the bike might get a covered front wheel. The Norwegian designers have dropped the idea, in favor of a very sporty looking superbike-eque design which we think is quite successful.
From a technical standpoint, the bike is built around a monocoque carbon fiber frame which weighs less than 25 kg (55 lbs), and all the bits bolted to it are designed to be as light and energy efficient as possible. The carbon fiber theme continues, as other components, like the swing arm and the drive system are also fashioned out of the stuff.
Powering the Roskva bike are two electric motors with a combined power output of 94 hp. They draw power from a 6kWh battery pack to give the bike a maximum range of 100 km (62 miles) and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Once on the market, the Norwegian bike will come up against stiff competition from ‘across the pond’, as Brammo and Zero already have entire ranges of electric bikes.
