GM had to stop production of the crucial Cruze model, the best selling Chevrolet on the North American market, due to a severe parts shortage that has resulted in production idling for almost a week now. The Ohio lines where the model is made has come back to life with the third shift of this Sunday.
GM did not mention the details of the problem that caused the production pause, but the company did mention that it is making sustained efforts to bring things back to normal. GM hasn’t gone public with details, but some industry rumors suggest it has something to do with a severe lack of suspension struts. They’ve also recently released a press issue about an underbody shield that will protect against splash and increase efficiency.

“With the Cruze, you have a very comprehensive splash protector on an entry sedan that you typically wouldn’t see except in high-end luxury vehicles,” said General Motors splash test engineer, Dave Schoener.
