And while Huawei phones most likely agree with this, they might have to look for an alternative sooner or later, as the company’s legal problems in the United States don’t seem to come to an end.
Back in May 2019, the United States officially blacklisted Huawei and blocked the company from working with American firms, restricting the use of software and hardware developed by them. In other words, Huawei is no longer allowed to use Android and Google apps, including Google Maps.
To deal with these sanctions, Huawei started investing in its own app store more aggressively, essentially planning to resolve the lack of Google apps by offering a bunch of alternatives to new phone buyers.
And now the main alternative to Google Maps on a Huawei phone is Here WeGo, one of the best navigation apps on Android and iOS anyway. Here WeGo has recently been published in the Huawei AppGallery, so if you can’t use Google Maps because of various reasons, giving this app a try could finally help you find a navigation app that can become your daily driver.
In the meantime, Huawei still hopes it can resolve its problems in the United States and launch phones internationally with Google apps pre-loaded.
