No More GP2 for Adrian Campos

Former Grand Prix driver Adrian Campos decided to wave a big goodbye to the world of GP2 racing and step down from his position at manager of his Spanish GP2 team. Not only that, but he will also sell his stake in the team, thus ensuring that he won't be having any more ties with the circuit.

This comes as quite a surprise for the GP2 fans - as Campos Grand Prix managed to take home the championship title this season - but it was motivated by Campos' interest in a new endeavor in F3 or, more to the point, in an F3 team. Also, he admitted that he is working on another secret project yet to be unveiled to the media.

His stake in the Spanish team was purchased by Alejandro Agag, who previously owned the majority of shares in Campos Grand Prix. When asked about the transaction, Campos said “I think it's the right time to think about other projects that I have had in mind for a long time”.

“I will continue with the F3 team, that I have left aside a bit over these years, and I will start another project that excites me, one which I have a lot of hopes for the future and that I hope to make public very soon,” went on Campos, who received nothing but words of praise from the new full-time owner. Agag has been previously linked with a Super Aguri buyout earlier this year.

The Spanish businessman - that had acquired the majority of shares in the GP2 team in July 2007 - continued by thanking Campos: “I only have words of gratitude for Adrian after he led us to the teams' title in record time, turning a team that was already one of the best in Spanish motorsport into the best organized and most competitive of the Formula One feeder series”.
