No LFA Successor for Now, Said Lexus

We know Lexus is prepping to showcase a new concept at the Geneva Auto Show this year in March. There were no teasers or details about it so far, but one thing is certain - it won’t be a next generation Lexus LFA supercar.
The LFA was representing Lexus’ ultimate expression of performance and quality during the time it was made, but according to an Automotive News report, the automaker can’t afford offering another $375K supercar at the moment.

According to executive vice president Mark Templin, Lexus will offer some kind of halo nameplate in the future to carry on the LFA’s spirit, but for the moment, the company is busy working on improving the F Sport packages as well as the full-performance F branch, which recently welcomed a new addition in the form of the GS F.

The company believes it doesn’t need an uber-cool supercar to boost its image as the redesigned current models along with the new additions are enough to handle that. The NX compact crossover and the RC coupe came with both outrageous looks and decent performance to keep Lexus floating.

So what’s under the wraps?

Out guess is that Lexus will boast with a next generation RX crossover at Geneva. The current generation is 7 years old, another facelift won’t cut it anymore and dealerships said they need a new 7-seater SUV to meet the trends.

So an NX-inspired bigger RX concept with room for seven should tick all the boxes regarding weird style and practicality. Regarding what’s under the hood, our 2 cents are on a hybrid powertrain along with the classic 3.5-liter V6.

The only other concept car that could be seen there is the LF-C2, which is basically the cabriolet version of the RC coupe, with added style and a new gold shade. Neat indeed, but putting that into production now will upset the dealerships a bit.
