No Jail for Britney

All hail the American justice system! Britney can now go free after that charge of driving without a valid California license and causing some mayhem as she was pursued by the paparazzi. We've been monitoring the case closely and we were hoping for any kind of resolution, anything but this.

In a weird turn of events, the case literally got thrown out of court without any resolve, just because the jury couldn't reach a verdict. While this move has all sorts of weird painted over it, Britney can now boast a clean record and is free to roam American roads again.

For those of you who are American taxpayers, here is how the whole thing went down from start to finish: back in 2007 Britney did a lot of weird stuff, like gaining a couple of pounds, partying non-stop, losing custody of her kids and even trying to commit suicide (allegedly). Among all that she still found the time to get into trouble behind the wheel, when she collided with a car in a parking lot in Hollywood while being hounded by the paparazzi.

That case was settled out of court, but it is at that point that she was also charged with driving without a valid California license. You see, she'd been a resident of the state since 2006 and as such was required to change her Louisiana license for a California one.

Her lawyer said that since she is a resident of Louisiana, there was no need for her to get a Cally license and from here it got to trial. Obviously, Britney was never seen in court as she was too busy pursuing her re-boosted career.

And now, after a couple of days, when the jury couldn't reach a verdict, the prosecutor said he would not pursue a retrial. In other words, if they decided to take the case to court again, there'd be no one to make the accusations. So now Britney is home free.
