Here we go again: it's the third issue with the awaited 2013 BMW R1200GS, but this time it's dead serious. Their Telelever front suspension is not working properly and most dealers whi have received the bike last week were unable to offer demo rides.
BMWhas addresed some of the cases but the deliveries to the clients have been halted until things are properly mended.
Solving the issue with the Telelever meeting the steering plate required some special tooling, and is not at all a common operation. BMW is currently working to tweak the front end and eliminate this problem.
Some of those who managed to demo ride the 2013 R1200GS last weekend in Italy reported that the front wheel was stiff, had troubled following the uneven road and doing successive twisties at moderate speed was not fun at all. Even more, between 120 and 150 km/h (74 to 93 mph) the steering was sloppy.
Somebody has not done their homework... and that's a fact.
