Nissan's ground-breaking ZEOD RC electric race car was unveiled to the public for the very first time at Nismo's headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. Created for the automaker's Le Mans comeback next year, the ZEOD RC was developed over only eight months.
Compared to the initial prototype that was revealed at the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans, the race-ready vehicle features a slightly redesigned body with aerodynamic updates and new cooling inlets. The ZEOD RC will race next year at Le Mans as a “Garage 56” entry for vehicles showcasing new and innovative technology. It will become the first vehicle to lap of Circuit de la Sarthe on electric power alone.
“The ZEOD RC utilises our technology gained through the development of the Nissan LEAF Nismo RC, the first EV racer based on the mass production zero emission vehicle. The LEAF RC’s energy management and efficient energy recovery system that is suitable for racing are just examples. We believe these technologies serve as important steps for using EV for motor sports,” said Nismo president Shoichi Miyatani.
